Candles can add a cozy and inviting atmosphere to your home, but it's essential to care for them properly to ensure they burn safely and last longer. Here are some candle care tips to keep in mind:

1. **Trim the Wick**: Before lighting a candle, always trim the wick to about ¼ inch (0.6 cm) in length. Long wicks can cause uneven burning, excessive smoke, and may lead to soot buildup.

2. **First Burn**: When lighting a new candle for the first time, allow it to burn long enough to create a full melt pool across the surface. This prevents tunneling, where the candle burns down the middle, leaving wax on the sides.

3. **Avoid Drafts**: Keep candles away from drafts, vents, or fans, as they can cause uneven burning, smoking, and may even extinguish the flame prematurely.

4. **Burn in Intervals**: It's better to burn candles for a few hours at a time rather than in short intervals. This allows the candle to establish a proper melt pool and ensures even burning.

By following these candle care tips, you can enjoy a safer and longer-lasting candle-burning experience.
